Knitting Yarns
The mohair yarns are all spun using the fine, lustrous mohair from our much-loved Angora goats. We only use the finest, softest kid and mohair from the young goats for the knitting yarns. The mohair is un- brushed, does not shed and can be knitted to any normal 4ply, double knitting or Aran pattern. (The Aran works best on a 4.5mm. needle). Obviously it is a good idea to check your tension.

The yarns are returned from the mill in 100gram hanks, which I wash and carefully hand dye in kilo batches in a large range of colours, (about 48 at the moment). Each dye lot is unique and exact matches cannot be guaranteed. It is important to order enough to finish a project. I will always take back unused skeins in good condition provided that they are accompanied by a dye lot number. All the yarns can be dyed in any colour off the shade card although different yarns take up the dye differently. Hand dyed yarns are usually slightly shaded, giving a softer look to the knitting. It is a good idea to wind two balls from the same skein. Knit two rows from one ball, then two rows from the other. This will balance any shading in the yarn.
